Fixed bed gasification for small units (ZeroPoint)
The ZeroPoint gasifier was designed in the U.S. to be used for the gasification of biomass in small-scale decentralized units. A ZeroPoint plant is based upon a modular design to provide higher capacities by linking individual process trains of 2 MWel each, if required.
Zeropoint is the provider of technology.
In the capacity of a general contractor Envirotherm is marketing the technology in association with ZeroPoint. A respective agreement was signed in September 2012.
The core of the technology is a gas generator operated under a slightly negative pressure.
After an appropriate cleaning procedure the gas is routed to a gas engine for electrical power generation.
Waste heat is used, for example, to dry the biomass feedstock.
